Sharing is Caring

Established about ten years ago, Bodi Senior High School in the newly established Western North Region, though beset with a number of challenges, is doing so well nevertheless.

Starting with a few students at its early stages, the school can now boast of over a 1000 population and excels in both academic and sporting activities

Headmaster of the School

Pastor Dr. Ken Obeng, Disclosed this to our reporter in an interview in his office recently surrounded by his supporting staff and with a disciplined student body; complemented by hard working Parents Teacher Association (PTA).

Pastor Obeng was, however, quick to point out that he has been told that the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area Sampson Ahi, who established the school, does not only have it at heart but has been really supportive of the school in many ways. On behalf of the school, he expressed his gratitude to the MP for his gesture.

The Headmaster pointed out that typical of every growing institution, the school is faced with such problems as infrastructure, Accommodation, Hostel for students, Official Cars for the headmaster and supporting staff, playing field for the school, since “All work and no play makes Jack a Dull Boy”. Besides, the School has a large tract of land for the construction of the playing field

Also the school does not have enough classroom and the able MP and the PTA have put up pavilions as classrooms for the students. He further added that the government, through the District Assembly had put up an Assembly Hall, a Library Complex with work still in the process

Dr. Obeng pointed out further that the school has an ICT lab with computers, with the MP having donated science equipment for the science laboratory.

“In the face of all this, we are doing our best” he emphasized. According to headmaster, the school has registered 497 students for West Africa Certificate Examination (WASCE) this year.

Dr. Obeng stated that the aim of the school is to better the grades of students for tertiary education. He stated that most of the students qualify for schools in Kumasi, Takoradi, and Accra, stressing that though it is the only school in the district, it is doing well to serve not only students in the district but also others from other parts of Ghana.

He said the school is also a day school and therefore has no hostel to house students and that it is the hard working PTA doing well to house students. He subsequently appealed to philanthropists and warm-hearted Ghanaians to come to the aid of the school.

Even in the face of these problems, the school has excelled in Maths and science Competition in both regional and national levels, Also it emerged best in Regional debate in 2017.

He mentioned that being the third headmaster, and having assumed office barely three months ago, he will do well not only to maintain the success story of the school but also better it with the support of his able lieutenants
